I've been sketching things since I was about 7 years old. I found myself doodling on a pad of notebook paper in between taking notes one day during a long and boring conference call at work when I noticed someone looking over my shoulder. I was trying to draw a crow sitting in a tree. After a short and uncomfortable silence, he said, "what a weak crow, it looks more like a dove or something." As he walked away, I started to jot down some poem ideas from my reaction to his comment and I thought, maybe I should put some sketches next to my poems. Thus, Sketching For Poetry was born. When I was eventually downsized, I added several poems and sketches about job hunting, interviewing and layoffs.

Random Life Poems is my first book of poems. Before I decided to write the book, I gathered several notebooks full of randomly scribbled and loosely formatted poems that I had written over a span of 15 or so years. All that time I kept these poems to myself and felt pretty strongly that they were horrible. I mean, I wrote them when I felt horrible - what else could they be? Hey, they made me feel better, maybe they will help you, too.
